when my rottie walks one of his back legs clicks.i have checked it, no pain and full movement in leg thigh and paws. only clicks when weight on it.

Hi Steve
A clicking sound like this can indicate a problem with a dogs hips, and Rottweilers are a breed that is prone to joint issues such as hip dysplasia.

The fact that there’s no pain and mobility is good is encouraging, but I’d definitely recommend that you have your vet examine your dog.

I’m not sure if he’s a pup, or an adult, and that can affect how effective an exam or X-ray is going to be. When puppies and adolescents there’s still a lot of growing and developing to do and the joints will change. Getting a definitive diagnosis is difficult in a young dog.

However, I think it’s important that you take a step towards finding out if there is a problem with your Rotties’ hip, because there are treatment options if treatment is indeed necessary.

Hope this helps. Best of luck with your dog.
