Is two different eye colors rare?

My Rott has one blue and one black eye, is that rare?

Hi Kayla
Yes, it is rare! If your Rottweiler isn’t purebred, or her parents don’t have registration papers, then it’s possible that there’s a little bit of some other breed somewhere in her family tree…. resulting in the blue eye.

However, if she’s purebred, then it’s possible there’s just some genetic ‘quirk’ or anomaly that has had this result. As long as the blue eye is healthy then I wouldn’t worry about it. This makes her unique and special – although of course, she’s special to you for a hundred different reasons already :o)

Magic with the one blue eye. NEW
by: Ledhead

We have a beautiful healthy 7 year old female (Magic) with one blue eye. People love her and she gets noticed a lot for this reason. Found out after we got her that it’s possible in any dog. It’s all about recessive genes. The vet that did her puppy work has been practicing for 30+ years and said Magic was only the second rottie pup he’d ever seen.

Rottweiler with a blue eye NEW
by: Cheri Hoke

I have a Rottweiler that has one brown eye and one blue eye. She is full blooded and is not mixed with any other breed. She has been examined by a Vet and I was told that the reason why she has one blue eye is because she has a loss of pigmentation in that one eye. She said that it was indeed rare and if I were to try to use her as a show dog that the blue eye would be a flaw. It doesn’t matter to me because I love my Rottweiler. I wouldn’t care if her eye was green, red, or whatever color. She’s the best dog I have ever had and I won’t have any other breed but a Rottweiler!

black & white rottweiler
by: Anonymous

hi! my friends have a rottwieler, but instead of the brown in a rottwieler he has white, basically a black and white rottwieler, and he also has a blue eye, some people told us that hitler bred those tipes of rotweilrs, and its very rare for them to appear in a litter. and when they took him to the vet not even two muzles or 4 calming shots could help, please tell me what yu would call them?????
