I got tired of rat race to find the perfect gift and came up with what I thought was the perfect gift….
Since everyone in our family were big animal lovers, I made up a gift bag for their dog/cat with toys & treats, and then contacted Best Friends in Utah and made a donation for each family in their name. As some were into dogs, cats or horses, rabbits etc you can choose which group and the amount which is usually about 25.00 for the year, or you can give to the animal wish list.
They recieve a Christmas card thanking them for their donation and I believe they receive their quarterly news magazine, also all of Best Friends big sponsors match all donations made during that month. For me it was just a win win situation.
I also had 2 friends that lost a loved one last year and I didn’t want to send flowers so I called again to make a donation in that family’s members name, the family was so happy and the one family told me that my dad would have loved that because he always wanted another dog and as he got older he couldn’t have one so that was very special to them.
I tried to go with the smaller local rescues but best friends were the only ones that would send any type notice as to what was done in their name, and it helps all of those less fortunate animals.
What a great idea. Thanks for sharing it. I’m sure those gifts are very welcome, and so thoughtful.
