German style conformation shows?

Hi,
I was wondering if you can give me any advice on how to start and how do I prepare for these shows?

I want to start showing my dog when he is old enough just need to know how to start and if my dog is even within the standard thanks in advance.

Hi Nathaniel
This is something that I’ve not had personal experience with, so I’m going to direct you to some other resources where you’ll find all the information you need.

However, before I do that there are a couple of things that I wanted to mention. First is that showing a pup/dog is something that takes a LOT of hard work, patience and practice and the earlier you start preparing your pup the better.

And secondly that German-style shows are a totally different to AKC shows, and you’ll need to do a lot of research and spend a lot of time getting to know the process etc.

The Unites States Rottweiler Club organizes and sanctions German-style shows in the US and you will need to be a member in order to show your dog at regional/national shows. You can get tons of information on the whole process on the USRCs’ Show Info page.

I’d also recommend checking out this article as it gives you a simplified overview of how a German-style show works….

I hope this helps you some and I wish you the very best of luck in the ring.

Why do you want to show NEW
by: Anonymous

You don’t need to e a member!
You need to find out if you have
purchased a show dog or a pet
and being a beginner you need
to get some expert advise!
Go to at least a few shows without
your dog to look at all the dogs.
stand near the judge and pay close
attention to everything the judge says
about all the dogs and, it will help you
get a picture,
Do NOT pay any attention to the breeders!
