not happy with mom for taking her to doctor

still being her goofy self..lol..

pushing her limit stealing mommy

My little girl Angel is recovering from her spay. She will be 7 months on the 31st and can’t wait to get out there and be a puppy again. She is pushing her limits (being a spoiled girl) and is using her recovery time to the max 🙂

Unfortunately she is reacting to the internal stitches and needs more time for recovery than normal. I have been advised by the vet that she is ready for adult food now that she is spayed and her metabolism will slow down with the hormone changes. Does anyone have any feedback regarding this? Will research more before I do this however.

Can’t wait for all the good times ahead at the park and playing with my beautiful girl..Thanks for letting me share this on this awesome site..

Judy – Angel is looking good and is obviously on the mend, that’s fantastic 🙂 I’m sorry she’s having a bit of trouble with the stitches, but that should pass pretty quickly.

Personally I’d say 7 months is too early for adult food, even with the spay, she’s far from adult and is still got a lot of growing to do. Some dogs will gain weight after being spayed, but regular exercise and a close eye on her weight gain should be enough.

If anyone else has comments please feel free to share! Sue

You did what?!?! NEW
by: Anonymous

Oh I am SO sorry you did that. She is now at the highest risk for bone and blood cancer as well as a bunch of other things. Poor baby….it just isn’t fair.

The research on the negative effects of altering rotties and taking away their hormones before age 6 is all over the net…look it up….

Adult food?
by: Natasha

Hi,
I heard the same thing that they aren’t ready for adult food until at least 18 months to 2 years. My boy Indy was spayed at 5 1/2 months and my vet said to keep him on puppy food (a really good quality one) until he was 2.

Maybe this is different for females, I’m not sure??? But your baby looks gorgeous. I truly love and am amazed daily at this stunning breed.
