2 YEAR OLD PEEING EVERYWHERE

MY 2 YEAR OLD ROTTIE KEEPS PEEING EVERY WHERE….. CAN’T STOP HIM, HELP PLEASE

Hi Joy
If this is unusual for your dog and he’s just started doing it then you need to get him to your veterinarian right away as he probably has a health condition causing the problem.

He could have a urinary tract infection, or a bladder/nerve problem or something else, only a vet can make an accurate diagnosis.

If he’s never mastered the art of house training though and it’s simply a potty training issue then I’d strongly recommend reading my Puppy Crate Training page and following the advice there, it’s fairly similar regardless of what age your dog is. The main difference would be that he needs less frequent potty breaks.

Also, if he WAS potty trained but has suddenly started peeing everywhere and the veterinarian says he is healthy, then it’s possible that it’s stress related or due to sudden changes in your home. A house move, a new baby, a new pet, divorce, marriage… all sorts of things can make a dog anxious if it causes an upheaval in their predictable routine/lifestyle and this can cause potty training problems. If this could be the reason for your difficulties, going back to basics with more frequent potty breaks, supervision and using the crate can help.

I’d definitely recommend that vet visit first though. Hope this helps, best of luck.

12 month old Rotti almost the same thing NEW
by: Anonymous

I just moved in with my daughter and her family who have three dogs, one is a 12 month old male Rottweiler. The Rotti seems to dislike urinating outside. He is healthy no UTI but we can have him out in the back yard for 30 min or more and he will come in, go to the same corner of his room and urinate. Not a little like he is marking it but buckets. Anyone got any suggestions?

UTI NEW
by: Anonymous

If he has no control of his peeing than it’s UTI. The vets will give him antibiotics. But there are cheaper ways to help your dog. Giving him apple cider in his water bowl. Say 2 table spoon of apple cider into his drinking water if it’s a big bowl or one table spoon in a small-medium bowl. You do this daily everytime you change the water you put apple cider. You don’t have to stop this even when he gets better. You can continue with this method for the life of the dog. This will prevent him getting UTI again.

I agree, your poor dog probably has a UTI and your Vet will test for that.
